EMS Chief
Kirk Thomsen started his career in the fire service in the fall of 1990. He spent 15 years
in Michigan as a volunteer firefighter where he became an assistant Chief. Then he
moved to California, taking a full-time position with Ukiah Fire department. There he
worked as a firefighter, Engineer and was the training and EMS division Chief for
several years. He was the interim fire chief there for a year and a half. Kirk is training
as a Hazmat specialist, Paramedic, technical rescue, and swift water. He retired from
Ukiah in 2020, and then took the full time Paramedic program director/ EMS
Coordinator for the College of the Siskiyous. He serves McCloud fire as the EMS
assistant Chief as well as being a paramedic where he can help staff the ambulance.
